Namaste! Thanks for your commitment to register your child(ren) at Sri Meenakshi Temple Society Vedic Heritage School (MTS VHS). Rest assured that a great team is working to brighten your child’s future as a Hindu.
We’re sure you’d agree with us that every time there is a VHS Class at the temple, there is a huge opportunity to leverage our excellent human potential to good use, both for our own children and to the MTS VHS community. Think of this: What if all the soft skills you have gained in your regular job were put to use for the welfare of the community?
Guidelines for Success:
As coordinators, we would need all the help we can get from you parents. We expect you to be pro-active rather than re-active. Here are some guidelines we would like to follow during the current school year. Please note that these are only guidelines, not rules. Please feel free to suggest any improvements. We are all part of the same team.
Registration
Registration is a two step process.
1. Use the following Google Forms to register your child(ren). If your child is an existing VHS student, please enter their class from previous year in the form. This will help us assign them to the right class.

2. Payment can be paying online at www.eMeenakshi.org. You can also pay by check at the temple.
If you have any issues and questions, please send an email to vhs@meenakshi.org with your email ID and phone info and a convenient time to contact you.
Books
As in the past, the MTS VHS Curriculum will be utilizing the “PUrNa VidyA” Teaching Guides and Books developed by the Arsha VidyA Gurukulam under the guidance of Swami Dayananda Saraswati. There is no separate cost for the books. Books will be distributed on the orientation day, or can be picked up from the respective class teachers.
Yoga Session
Please help us here in ensuring good discipline and punctuality. The Yoga session is only for 15 minutes. Parents are welcome to join their children during yoga, provided there is sufficient space for all children. Please dress comfortably for yoga session.
Assembly / Bhajan Session
There are 2 Assembly classes Basic Assembly and Advanced Assembly. Please see the Assembly page for more information and the shlokas taught.
Any kids arriving for the Bhajan past 10:20 AM will need help (a) in changing their habits to come on or before time; (2) in taking their place in the assembly without disturbing the other kids already participating. Parents are welcome to listen and watch their children during the class; some chairs will be arranged for this purpose.
The Assembly sessions are conducted only for 35 minutes and hence every minute counts towards your kid's future. It is also important that children leave their shoes in the proper place in order. Only parents of young If you have a special need, please discuss with one of us.
MTS VHS Class Schedule
The MTS VHS Class Schedule is maintained online. The calendar can be found here. .
Punctuality
Punctuality is part of the discipline and is not negotiable, as you would agree. As parents, we have to set an example to the children by being at MTS VHS on or before time. We request that all children be available at MTS VHS well before the Assembly. Make sure your child is healthy, has a good sleep, bath and breakfast before coming to MTS VHS. This gives them the best opportunity to give them full attention in classes and learn the shlokas and lessons.
Attendance
Attendance will be punctually taken by teachers for each VHS class. Children are encouraged to have full attendance. We expect students to maintain at least 70% attendance. Attendance will be taken into consideration while teachers plan Year End Program activities.

Notice of absence
We fully understand that there may be situations beyond your control that require your child to be away on a MTS VHS class day. Please try your best to give us at least a day’s notice via email (sent to your child’s VHS class teacher, not the Assembly teacher) if this happens. If there is no email from the parent for three consecutive MTS VHS classes about their child’s absence, the child’s name will be removed from the rolls and you will have to re-register if you want your child to return.
All children are requested to be in traditional Indian Attire. All boys are requested to wear kurta pajama's and the girls may wear churidars, kurta's, pavadai's, ghagra cholis. No jeans, T-shirts, shorts. skorts, skirts or tank tops allowed. Click here for the dress code policy document. Please dress and act as you would as if you were visiting the temple.
Class Discipline
In the past, we have noticed that there were situations where some children were not paying full attention to their class and were also disrupting other kids. This kind of behavior is not acceptable. Apart from counseling the kid, we will send you emails about such behavior. Sufficient warning will be given to avoid such occurrences subsequently. We will be happy to talk to the individual parents directly to resolve any special situations. Please also note that chewing gums are not allowed in VHS classes.
Class Interruption
Please do not interrupt or look into the class rooms when classes are in progress. This is very distracting to all students and interrupts the flow of the class. Parents of young children (Beginners 1 and 2) can join the class if requested by the class teachers and if this helps the children in following the class instruction.

Please contact a volunteer if you want to contact your child in case of any emergency. The volunteer will contact the respective teacher with the message.
If you need to pickup you children early, please coordinate with the respective class teachers.
Incident Reports and Child Safety
There may be situations where a child is sick and may not feel the best while coming to MTS VHS. Please take note of this and if necessary, please assist by taking the child away from the class (e.g., sickness that may spread). If there is a disciplinary issue at stake, please try resolving it yourself OR let one of us know about it. Child safety and well-being are very important to our success, especially on wet / cold days.
Communication with coordinators
Please see our contact details on the Committee Members page. This will be useful for any ongoing communications. This year, we will be using a combination of tools for enhanced communication
- A blog exclusively for the MTS VHS: http://mtsvhs.blogspot.com/
- An email - vhs@meenakshi.org - for broadcasts to parents and students.
You may have many suggestions to improve the MTS VHS. We are open to all of that. Please feel free to contact us at any given time.
Issue Escalation
If you feel that an issue needs to be escalated, please talk to the Class Room Teacher first. If this is not acceptable to you, please feel free to contact one of the Committee members.
MTS VHS is successful only because of the dedication and enthusiasm of its teachers, the commitment of parents and parent-volunteers, and the continuing interest and passion of its students. We look forward to your help in making this another great year for everyone.
