Conduct & Guidelines
Namaste!
Thank you for registering your child(ren) in the Hindu Wisdom Program (HWP) at the Sri Meenakshi Temple Society. We are grateful for your trust and commitment.
A dedicated team is working diligently to nurture your child’s growth and strengthen their understanding of Hindu values and culture. Every HWP class at the temple presents a wonderful opportunity to channel our collective talents and experiences toward building a vibrant and supportive community.
Imagine the impact if the soft skills and knowledge you use in your professional life were shared for the benefit of our children and the broader HWP community. Together, we can make a meaningful difference.
Guidelines for Success
As coordinators, we value your partnership and active involvement. We encourage all parents to be proactive rather than reactive. The following guidelines are intended to help us work effectively as one team throughout the school year. These are guidelines—not strict rules—and we welcome your suggestions for improvement.
Books & Curriculum
The MTS HWP curriculum uses the “PUrNa VidyA” Teaching Guides and Books developed by the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam under the guidance of Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
There is no separate cost for books.
Books will be distributed through respective class teachers.
Yoga Session
Duration: 30 minutes
Discipline and punctuality are essential.
Parents are welcome to join (space permitting).
Please dress comfortably.
Assembly / Bhajan Session
There are four Assembly groups:
Junior Assembly and Junior Intermediate Assembly
Senior Intermediate Assembly and Senior Assembly
Please refer to the Assembly page for additional details.
Students arriving after 9:45 AM may need guidance to join without disturbing others.
Parents are welcome to observe; limited seating will be arranged.
Sessions lasts 30 minutes, and every minute is valuable.
If you have special needs or concerns, please speak with one of the coordinators.
Class Schedule
The MTS VHS class schedule is maintained online. Please refer to the official calendar for updates.
Punctuality
Punctuality is a vital part of discipline and sets a strong example for our children.
Please ensure your child:
Arrives before Assembly begins
Is well-rested
Has bathed and eaten breakfast
A prepared child is better able to focus, participate, and learn shlokas and lessons effectively.
Attendance & Notice of Absence
Attendance will be recorded for each class.
Students are expected to maintain at least 70% attendance.
If your child needs to be absent, please notify the respective class teacher (not the Assembly teacher) via email at least one day in advance.
If no communication is received for three consecutive classes, the student’s name may be removed from the roster. Re-registration will be required for continued participation.
Dress Code
Students are expected to wear traditional Indian attire to reflect the cultural and spiritual environment of the temple.
Boys: Kurta-pajamas (preferred)
Girls: Churidars, kurtas, pavadais, or ghagra cholis (preferred)
The following are not permitted:
Shorts
Skirts/skorts
Tank tops
Class Discipline
Class Interruption
To maintain focus:
Please do not enter or look into classrooms during sessions.
This can be distracting to students and teachers.
Parents of Beginners 1 and 2 may join only if requested by the teacher.
For emergencies:
Contact a volunteer, who will relay the message to the teacher.
For early pickups, coordinate with the respective class teacher.
Incident Reports & Child Safety
Your child’s safety and well-being are our top priority.
If your child is unwell (especially with contagious symptoms), please keep them home or pick them up if needed.
Report any disciplinary or safety concerns promptly.
Extra caution is required on wet or cold days.
Communication
We welcome your ideas and suggestions at any time. Open communication strengthens our program.
